This year I’ve done 3 really big projects, and I can finally share about 1 of them! You know, because I work for MI-5.
My Life Book Lesson has gone live!
Here is a sneak peak of the work we will create:
I am SO proud of this lesson. I put great thought and effort into organising and creating a lesson that could cater for two groups with two different goals:
I divided it into “HOW” for people who are on Life Book to learn how to paint.
And “WHY” for those that know how to paint and need ideas and insight into practise and process.
Of course some people may be in both groups, in which case they have tons of content.
The making of this lesson cemented a few things for me:
I am in “pursuit” of process. This is what I love(!), what I want to talk about, share and explore. How I come to the table with curiosity, and how that morphs into my art.
I will always be willing, and will certainly deliver if someone asked me: “how much paint do you put on your brush?” because that was my question just a few years ago, and we need answers!
However, to reiterate, I am in the season where I prefer asking: what happens if I remove this image from it’s context? What gives a flower it’s smell *visually*? And other wanker like thoughts.
I also balked at the idea of “you are known for x, keep doing x”. I don’t ever want to do that to myself. Tell myself that I can’t paint something beautiful, because I am always painting something dark/stupid/ugly. It’s the reverse of saying I can’t paint anything dark, because I am known for the beautiful. So these shells might seem too beautiful (ahem) for some (even though the way I created them is SO ME), and I have made peace with that. Oh just remembered there is a WHOLE BUTT in it too.
IF you’re not a part of Life Book and would like to join (there has been so many amazing lessons this year), you can do that here.
Looking for a podcast to listen to instead?
Me and my BFF (although she refuses to sign the paperwork) Iris Fritschi-Cussens have dropped another episode of (NOT) a Real Artist - Season 4!
Some insight: Iris and I are taking a SUPER laid back approach to this season, in terms of promoting, recording and releasing episodes.
We’re just two friends, making something cool - and I like that!
Give us a listen, send us an e-mail. be gentle on you too!
Well, that’s all I’ve got to say for today…on Substack, the WRITING app, where I am talking about my VISUAL ART and AUDIO WORK…
Hugs and static kisses*
Tamara Łuć
*I have no idea WTH, but when greeting (read respectful kissing) some of the older members in my family, I sometimes get a static shock on the lips!
It’s not just me, even my cousins have mentioned it. It is perhaps static from the saris? And they don’t even feel it Bro…they act as if they didn’t just electrocute my lips…
I really enjoyed the new ep of NARA!
Your Life Book lesson looks great, I'm not playing this year so I loved seeing a peek of what you're doing over there.
I am def in the needing to know how column. No one ever really explains how to load a brush, how much paint, stroke directionality. So glad you are willing to share and take time to break down these things for those of us who weren’t born with a brush in our hands. So looking forward to painting crab butt!
